Portrait of an Artist
I believe that what an artist draws inspiration from is always of interest of the viewer. The details of an artist life are sometimes so intricately interwoven with their work that a glance tells you a great deal about that person.
I was born in Memphis Tennessee and in my early teens I met and married my one true love, a man dedicated to the United States Marine Corps and his Country, Dale Edwin Henry. We began our adventure in the early 60s and with our three children we traveled and lived in towns and cities from coast to coast.
My life and career as an artist began in southern California. I studied art at Cerritos College in the city of Norwalk. While our children were in school I worked part time & attended school where my two wonderful professors, Manuel DeLeon & George Deremo gave me the insights and skills to heighten my artistic abilities.
I developed a passion for the west along with the love I have for my family, my American Indian Heritage & the true history of our great country. California, Arizona, & New Mexico and its people became home to me.
When I paint my mind travels back to all the beautiful places I've been & the scenes that stay in my heart & my minds eye. In my earlier career I was known as the Gypsy Pallet because my husband & I were always on the move.
I began my career in the southern California art shows & galleries, the Big Bear Art League, Calico Ghost Town, the Prisidio in Hesperia, the Art Affair in Laguna Hills, & was represented by Mike Cluff Fine Arts Gallery in Cambria California along side the Disney cell artists, & Craig Fine Arts gallery in Tucson, & the Sanders Gallery also in Tucson..
For several years, I've shown in the Mountain Oyster Club in Tucson Arizona & I have paintings displayed in the Amerind Indian Museum in Texas Canyon in Arizona.
I created a painting that became the official Tennessee Bicentennial painting in 1999 via the Tennessee senate joint resolution # 405. A print of the painting sits in the Tennessee time capsule.
My portfolio includes other historic American Landmarks & American history such as the Smokey Mountains, the Grand Canyon, the Saguaro desert, California Coastline, San Xavier Mission, tributes to American Indians & much more.
